Bits and bobs on the jig.

Image
Parts laid out on the jig table so i can start working out a few dimensions. The jig table has another 5 ft section to be fitted to it at the end closest to the camera in the wide shots of the front of the engine.

Slow but steady progress.

I've got the swing arm to collect tomorrow thanks to my little scouse mate Grav, he's a bloody star. I've still got to sort a wheel and spindle but i'm expecting to hear back from a few folk in the next few days with a bit of luck. All i need to do now is translate all the pictures of things in my head into a set of plans we can use and draw up a cutting list from. I've asked a mate to get me a price for the bottom rails and as soon as that arrives we'll start to mock it up to see if one or two ideas will work before we finally weld it all up. Lots to do but the rest of my life to do it in.

Close but no cigar

I am very close to my head imploding this week. I have lots of stuff in my shed I don't need and tons of stuff I could do with having in the shed but I know isn't there. The FZ engine ( part done which I hate ) has been moved to one side while we sort the jig table out. The jig table can only be sorted out when I have some more steel. Some more steel can only be sorted out when I've shifted some of the stuff I don't need. I can only shift it when I've photographed it all and got it online. It's going to be one of those weeks I think betwixt rock and a hard place but I'll muddle through. It looks like a day of being 'David Bailey' followed by an afternoon of 'Del Boy' online on the various motorcycle and auction websites. They aren't contributing to my  build so they won't be named here and be assured I'll be waiting for a free listings day too! After chatting to Paul, the engineering wizard I know I've decided to go wit

FZ Engine Progress

Image
Started in getting all the muck and old paint of the top of the engine. The paint on the bottom cases is OK and just needs a touch up but the top end needed a complete strip down and new paint job. Only part of the way there but I've made a bit of progress today and it's cleaning up pretty well. Be  decent once I get it all cleaned and painted up, you can already see a big difference. Fingers are very sore but it's worth the effort to do it right the first time, I want to use this trike not spend a lot of time fixing bodges.

And welcome back to the late 1930's folks!

http://www.stephenfry.com/2013/08/07/an-open-letter-to-david-cameron-and-the-ioc/ And welcome back to the late 1930's folks! I have a theory about cycles of events and it would appear I'm not as mad as you lot think I am. It would appear that as a species we have not learnt the lessons of history, appear not to be affected overmuch by genocides or major bouts of ethnic cleansing and as long as it doesn't affect out own little lives too much will allow our ' leaders' to pretty much get away with anything. Where do we draw the lines, where do we make a stand and say no to megalomaniacs like Putin? I was called a 'free thinker' the other day by someone I respect a lot and my biggest fear is that the Plutocrats will do their utmost to remove that freedom to think and say what I think is right. Putin is a Plutocrat who has decided to have a serious punt at doing his utmost to do as much harm to the LGBT community in Russia as he can. It's blindi

Done and dusted

It lives! Riggers ancient Z650 has been rewired and poked with a big stick, It smokes like a goodun but it runs. I suspect it'll clear as the engine runs a bit more. it's been parked up for a while. Throttle response is nice and quick and it revs up nicely. Just the brakes to sort, refit the footpegs, seat, tank and side panels and it'll be ready to go home. Al's done a splendid job with the electric-trickery and all the gubbins works properly too.

Let there be light!

Just about done with the Z650 rewire, we are going to try and start it tomorrow. Once i get it sent back to it's owner we can get stuck into sorting the jig for the RT project.

My little corner of the world! If I'm not here or on the settee I can be found in my old tin shed. It's from this little piece of England within the walls of the keep of a madman I try to entertain on Biker FM. It's not much of an Empire but I believe I rule over it with a fair and just heart and I always, always kiss the minions goodnight! So there! www.bikerfm.co.uk So much more than just the music! .................. Friday nights 10 pm!

My GSXR trike, I miss it occasionally, it was a lot of fun as a Streetfighter before I ruined a perfectly good motorcycle by adding a third wheel. Don't get me wrong, I like trikes, a lot but GSXR's are not really suitable for adding a back end. Too tall, I believe more than ever purpose built trikes are always going to be better than a back end bolted on a production bike. I sold it to a chap in Wales. I heard last year it had been written off in an accident.
